The McCalmans are Scotland's foremost Folk Song Trio. Formed in 1964, they have continued to record and tour without interruption. Their performance is based on searing three part harmony, humour and a respect for the tradition of song in Scotland. They have performed all over Europe, and in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Bermuda, Kenya, Belize and, er, the Falkland Islands. In their native Scotland, they have had six major TV series and countless BBC Network Radio series and appearances. They have produced some 23 LPs and CDs, not counting re-issues and compilations

The band was formed in 1994 by musician/actor Chris O'Neill inspired by his successful acting performance in the BAFTA Award winning Beatle film 'BACKBEAT'. The lads are all from the Liverpool area and have long shared a mutual admiration for The Beatles and had played alongside Chris in other bands previously.

MARC ROBINSON & THE COUNTERFEIT CRICKETS The sound produced by the band is completely authentic and emulates those authentic recordings of Buddy Holly and the Crickets. The percussion on Everyday is played by the drummer slapping his knees, and Not Fade Away is played on a cardboard box as were the originals. The whole band are performing in authentic Crickets attire.

The Dangleberries - Galloway "PIPE ROCK"
We play traditional bagpipe music but wi a unique brand o drums and guitar accompaniment. The band also play a number o' sets wi vocals, one o which is oor version o Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' with pipe music composed by Fritz and another is Queen's 'We Will Rock You' incorporating a tune composed by Alistair, A couple o Highly Trained Professionals.

The time and effort put in by both staff and pupils at Castle Douglas High School was evident to all those who attended Rock and Roll High School, this years school production. The excellent choreography was matched by the acting and singing skills of the principle roles who in turn were ably supported by an enthusiastic chorus. No small amount of nerve is required to get up on stage and perform to this standard and those who did so performed admirably.

Bernie Marsden was the founder of the iconic rock band White Snake. A talented guitar player and song writer his songs still appear still the top of the charts in rock compilation albums. Used to performing to tens of thousands of fans in auditoriums across the world, Bernie is equally happy in small venues where he can engage with his audience on a one to one basis playing and promoting his love of blues guitar to a new generation of enthusiasts

The unique sound of Jam Squad has become ever more familiar over the past two years. A group of five young musicians, they directed their skills at developing a ‘northen soul’ sound with excellent use of both the trumpet and saxophone. Their talents were recognized by both the organizers of the Wickerman and Knockengorroch Festivals where they delighted the crowds with renditions of hits by the Specials and Madness. As yet a young group their potential is huge.

Angus Lyon and Ruaridh Campbell are without doubt one of the most exciting acts to tour the country in recent years. Angus is an accomplished accordion and piano player whilst Ruaridh’s particular skill is in playing the fiddle. Their particular style of music may be best described as traditional Scottish with a ‘twist’, makes best use of their individual skills and when combined with their energy and enthusiasm attracts a whole new audience who wouldn’t normally be attracted to ‘traditional’ music.
